Photos of the Heard Museum Phoenix

I visited the Heard Museum Phoenix for the first time recently, and was blown away by it. Every facet of the museum is well-designed, quiet and educational. If you are in Phoenix, I highly recommend adding this attraction to your list of must-see’s.

Heard Museum Phoenix

The focus of the Heard Museum is American Indian art. American Indian artists are on full display and have a beautiful home to showcase their artwork at the Heard. In addition to art, the Heard is home to hundreds of historical artifacts, making the museum a combination of art and history.

Heard Museum Phoenix Location

The museum is located on Central Avenue in Midtown Phoenix, between Thomas and McDowell roads. It is within walking distance of the Regency House and the Executive Towers.

Just a short drive away is the Phoenix Art Museum, which is another beautiful museum you need to visit. There are many places to eat and drink nearby.

About the Heard Museum

Heard Museum was founded in 1929 by Dwight and Maie Bartlett Heard and has undergone several expansions, renovations and upgrades. Today, it is one of the most contemporary art museums in both design and technology.

The Heard is organized into several stunning galleries and features artwork of nearly all forms, including textiles, sculpture, photography, paintings and more. There are both indoor and outdoor galleries.

One of the most sobering and educational features of the Heard is the Indian School walkthrough which features a visual retelling of the stories of students who were sent to boarding schools.

Price/Entrance Fee

American Indian children and adults may visit the museum for free by showing a tribal ID. For everyone else, adults are charged $20, seniors $17, college students $9 with ID, children $9 and anyone under 5 is free.

Note: Prices change; these are the prices at the time of this writing and these may no longer reflect the current fees.
